The Lincoln County is a county in the state of Colorado of the United States . The county seat is Hugo . The county is named after former President Abraham Lincoln .

The county had 6,087 people as of the 2000 census . There were 2,058 households and 1,389 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 86.30 percent white, 4.96 percent African American, 0.94 percent Native American, 0.56 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 5.65 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.56 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.53 percent of the total population.
Of the 2058 households, 33.7 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 55.3 percent were married couples living together, 8.4 percent were single mothers. 32.5 percent were not families. 29.0 percent were single households and 13.0 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.04.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.9 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 7.1 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 33.0 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 21.8 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 14.3 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 130.9 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 140.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 31,914 , and the median income for a family was $ 39,738. Males had a median income of $ 25,742 versus $ 22,188 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,510. 11.7 percent of the population and 8.1 percent of families are below the poverty line. These included 14.4 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 11.5 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
