List of Members of the Salzburg State Parliament (11th legislative period)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of members of the Salzburg state parliament in the 11th legislative period lists all members of the Salzburg state parliament in the 11th legislative period or the 15th electoral period. The legislative period lasted from the constitution of the Landtag on May 2, 1984 to April 26, 1999. The constitution of the subsequent Landtag of the 12th legislative period took place on April 27, 1999.

In the 1994 state elections , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) again lost its share of the vote after 1999 and lost two of its 16 seats. The ÖVP then only provided 14 of the 36 members of the state parliament in the newly elected state parliament. The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) also lost a mandate and sent 11 mandataries to the new state parliament. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), on the other hand, posted profits again and subsequently provided eight instead of six members of the state parliament, and the Salzburg citizens' list (BL) won a mandate and sent three members of the state parliament to the state parliament.

After the members of the state parliament had sworn in, the state government Katschthaler II was elected on May 2, 1994 , succeeding the state government Katschthaler I.

Functions

Landtag President

The incumbent Landtag President Helmut Schreiner (ÖVP) also took over the office of Landtag President in the new Landtag period. Even Walter Thaler (SPÖ) was re-elected to the office of the Second Parliament president. Due to the gains of the FPÖ, however, the ÖVP lost its right to the office of third state parliament president, whereupon Margot Hofer (FPÖ) was elected to this office. The election of the three members of the state parliament took place on May 2, 1994. After Hofer's resignation on November 11, 1997, Wolfgang Haider was elected as his successor the following day.
