Type / purpose: The abbreviation “TE” stands for “Technologieerprobung”, ie testing new satellite technology ; the ◻ symbol indicates CubeSats . In 2017, only Cubesats up to size 6U were launched.
See Satellite Types for further explanation.
Failures and partial successes
- ↑ The second stage did not ignite.
- ↑ After an initially problem-free flight, the radio connection to the rocket was lost due to an incorrectly configured receiver on the ground. As a precaution, the rocket began to self-destruct.
- ↑ Due to a malfunction of the third rocket stage, the satellite was not placed in the intended geotransfer orbit (according to GB Times , July 19, 2017). With its own propulsion it nevertheless reached a geostationary orbit.
- ↑ Engine failure due to turbo pump damage. The subsequent necessary redesign of the engine threw the Chinese program for space exploration back by more than a year.
- ↑ The payload fairing was not detached.
- ↑ During the first launch with the Fregat upper stage from the Vostochny Cosmodrome , the Fregat was accidentally programmed for a launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome . All 19 payloads were lost. ( Spaceflight Now , December 30, 2017)
Further remarks
- ↑ For the first time, the first stage of an orbital rocket was reused.
- ↑ a b c d e f g h These small satellites were brought to the ISS and from there launched into space. Your Cospar IDs are derived from the ISS ID ( 1998-067A ). These satellites may not (yet) be recorded in databases such as the NSSDC catalog .
- ↑ unidentified payloads
- ↑ a b The identification of these satellites is kept secret (cf. Spacenews , Gunter's Space Page: Prometheus , Gunter's Space Page: DHFR ).
