Catchment area

The 3.4 km² catchment area of the Moorbach is located on the upper course in the natural area of the Lichtenberg ridge and in the mouth area in that of the Moschel heights . Both natural areas are sub-areas of the North Palatinate Bergland and thus also part of the Saar-Nahe Bergland . The highest point in the catchment area is the Störtzelberg, north-west of Morbach, at a height of 446.4  m . Other notable hills are the 396  m high Kahlenberg southeast of Relsberg, the Krippes hill north-northeast of Morbach with 391.2  m , the Breitheck hill south-east of Relsberg with 374.2  m and east of Relsberg the 360.6  m high Schwanenberg .

The area of the bog brook bordered on the southwest by the catchment area of Lauter inflow Rossbach , as well as to the area of the tributary Gray Bach and northwest competes in the Glan confluent Sulzbach . In the north its catchment area is bounded by the Wambach tributary of the Odenbach and in the south by the Weilerbach , which has the same receiving water. Data

The Moorbach drains over the Odenbach , Glan , Nahe and Rhine into the North Sea . The difference in altitude from its source to its mouth is 133 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 43.2 ‰ over a run length of 3.077 km. Its catchment area of 3.394 km² contributes about 3.9% to the catchment area of the Odenbach (85.956 km²). Its structural quality is mainly assessed as unchanged (quality class I) or slightly changed (quality class II), only parts of the Oder and the estuary area have a poorer rating.
