Niel is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 10,501 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is located on the southern edge of the Antwerp area near the confluence of the Rupel and the Scheldt .

The city center of Antwerp is about 13 kilometers north and Brussels 30 km south.

The next motorway exits are at Kontich and Rumst on the A1 / E 19 .
Niel has a regional train station on the Mechelen - Willebroek - Niel - Antwerp railway line ; others are u. a. in Boom , Kontich and Willebroek. National express trains also stop in Mechelen and Antwerp.
The Antwerp International Airport is the nearest regional airport and the airport Brussels National close to the capital is an airport of international importance.
