Nikitowka ( Russian Никитовка , German  Uszpiaunen , 1936 to 1938 Uschpiaunen , 1938 to 1945 Kiesdorf ( Eastern Pr.) , Lithuanian Užpjauniai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Krasnoznamensk in Krasnoznamensky District .

Geographical location

Nikitowka is located three kilometers north of the former district town Dobrowolsk (Pillkallen / Schloßberg) on the regional road 27K-025 (ex R508 ). It is 16 kilometers to today's capital Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) . In Nikitowka the municipal road 27K-299 branches off, which leads via Prawdino (Grumbkowkeiten / Grumbkowsfelde) to Leskowo (Rammonischken / Hagenfließ) on the regional road 27K-026 (ex R511 ). Until 1945 the place was a train station on the Pillkallen – Lasdehnen (Schloßberg – Haselberg) railway of the Pillkaller Kleinbahn .

The village called Uszpiaunen at the time consisted of a village and a domain. In 1874, Uszpiaunen became Amtsedorf and thus gave its name to a newly established administrative district , which was renamed in 1936 to “District of Uschpiaunen” and in 1939 to “District of Kiesdorf (Ostpr.)”. It existed until 1945 and belonged to the Pillkallen district (1939 to 1945 "Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.)") In the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . On September 17, 1936, the name was changed from Uszpiaunen to "Uschpiaunen", and on June 3 (officially confirmed on July 16) of the year 1938 the village was renamed "Kiesdorf (East Prussia)".

In 1945 the place came to the Soviet Union in the wake of the war with northern East Prussia . In 1947 he was given the Russian name "Nikitowka" and at the same time was classified in the Novouralski selski Sowet village in Krasnosnamensk Raion . Later the place came into the Prawdinski selski Sowet . From 2008 to 2015 Nikitowka belonged to the rural municipality Dobrowolskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Krasnosnamensk.
