Nowinki ( Russian Новинки , German Kögsten , 1938 to 1945 Michelfelde , Lithuanian Kėkštai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Krasnoznamensk in Krasnoznamensky District .
Geographical location
Nowinki is 14 kilometers west of the former district town of Dobrowolsk (Pillkallen / Schloßberg) and 25 kilometers southwest of today's capital Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) on a side road from Wesnowo (Kussen) . A rail link does not exist.
history
Keckstekeimenn was first mentioned in 1557 as a separation from the older scattered settlement Eggleningken (1938 to 1946: Kiefernberg, no longer existent today). From 1874 to 1945 the small village was incorporated into the administrative district of Spullen (today in Russian: Fewralskoje), which belonged to the Pillkallen district (renamed "Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.)" In 1938) in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .
On June 3rd - officially confirmed on July 16th - of the year 1938, Kögsten was renamed "Michelfelde" for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names. In 1945 the place came to the Soviet Union in the wake of the war with northern East Prussia .
In 1947 the village was given the Russian name "Novinki" and at the same time was included in the village soviet Wesnowski selski Sowet in Krasnosnamensk Raion . From 2008 to 2015 Nikitowka belonged to the rural municipality of Wesnowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Krasnosnamensk.

The majority Protestant population Kögstens resp. Michelfeldes was parish before 1945 in the parish of the church in Kussen (Russian: Wesnowo) and belonged to the parish of Pillkallen (Schloßberg) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Nowinki is in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation of the Salzburg Church in Gussew (Gumbinnen) within the provost of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
