Mirny ( Russian Мирный , German  Szieden , 1936-1945 differences , lithuanian Žydžiai ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad region and belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Krasnoznamensk in Krasnoznamensky District .

Geographical location

Mirny is located seven kilometers northwest of the former district town of Dobrowolsk (Pillkallen / Schloßberg) and 18 kilometers southeast of today's Rajon capital Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) north of the Russian regional road 27A-012 (ex R509 ), which runs from Dobrowolsk to the Russian-Lithuanian border Military post Kutusowo (Schirwindt) leads and once led to Kudirkos Naumiestis (New Town) in Lithuania . Mirny is a place that was rebuilt after 1945 at an unknown time. It is located a little north of where the small East Prussian village of Szieden (Schieden) was before 1945 . Mirny was officially incorporated in 1997 in the Dobrowolski selski okrug village in Krasnosnamensk Raion . From 2008 to 2015 Mirny belonged to the rural municipality Dobrowolskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Krasnosnamensk.

The small town called Szieden was mentioned for the first time in 1625. Before 1945 it consisted of several small farms. Between 1874 and 1945 Szieden was assigned to the Willuhnen district (the place no longer exists), which belonged to the Pillkallen district (1939 to 1945 "Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.)") In the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910 there were 125 registered residents in Szieden. Their number decreased to 105 by 1933 and was only 95 in 1939. On September 17, 1936, the name spelling of Szieden was officially changed to “Schieden”.
