Poltawskoje ( Russian Полтавское , German  Groß Rudszen and Neu Rudszen , 1936 to 1938 Groß Rudschen and Neu Rudszen , 1938 to 1945 Mühlenhöhe , Lithuanian Didieji Rudžiai , also: Naujieji Rudžiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . Geographical location

Poltawskoje is seven kilometers north of the former district town of Dobrowolsk (Pillkallen / Schloßberg) and twelve kilometers south of the current Rajons capital Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) on the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ). A rail link does not exist.

Groß Rudszen / Mühlenhöhe

The place called Budwetha an der Ragup , founded in 1556, was a small village before 1945. On April 8, 1874, it was raised to the status of an official village and gave its name to a new administrative district which existed until 1945 and was part of the Pillkallen district (1939 to 1945 " Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.) ”) In the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910 there were 345 inhabitants in Groß Rudszen. Their number rose slightly to 360 by 1933 and was still 349 in 1939.

On September 17, 1936, the spelling of the place name was changed from Groß Rudszen to "Groß Rudschen", and for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign place names, the village was changed to "July 3" - officially confirmed on July 16, 1938. New Rudszen / New Rudschen

The former Poltawskojer district Neu Rudszen is only about one kilometer north of Groß Rudszen.
