Kenya participated in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with a delegation of 25 athletes, 24 men and one woman, in ten competitions in four sports.

It was Kenya's first participation in the Summer Olympic Games .

The youngest athlete was the athlete Bartonjo Rotich at 18 years and 188 days , the oldest athlete was the marksman Roy Congreve (43 years and 234 days).
