Cuba took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia with a delegation of 16 athletes, 15 men and one woman, in 16 competitions in five sports.

It was Cuba's seventh participation in the Summer Olympics since 1900 .

The youngest athlete, aged 15 and 152 days, was Raúl Martin , the oldest athlete, sailor Carlos de Cárdenas Culmell (52 years and 330 days).

Flag bearer

The swimmer Manuel Sanguily carried the flag of Cuba during the opening ceremony in Melbourne's Olympic Stadium .
