Pilwa ( German  Pilwe ) is a place in the Polish Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Pilwa is located west of the Jezioro Dobskie ( German  Dobensee ) in the northeast of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship, 17 kilometers southwest of the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

1437 to 1772 was Pilve and later Pilwe place indicated founded and developed into a large estate. In 1874 which was Gutsbezirk Pilwe in the District Rose Garden incorporated, which until 1945 for district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Pilwe had 140 inhabitants in 1910. On September 30, 1928, the independence of Pilwe ended when the place was incorporated into the rural community of Langbrück ( Dłużec in Polish ).

In 1945, the village came in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and has since been called "Pilwa". Today it is part of the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Until 1945 Pilwe was parish in the Protestant Church of Rosengarten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic St. Catherine Church in Rastenburg ( Kętrzyn in Polish ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Pilwa belongs to the Catholic parish in Radzieje in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Protestant parish in Węgorzewo or in Kętrzyn , both of which are in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

The riverside village of Pilwa can be reached from Radzieje (Rosengarten) via a side road that runs to Skrzypy (Steinhof) and on to Doba (Doben) . In addition, an overland road from Dłużec (Langbrück) leads directly into the village.

The next train station is Radzieje on the Kętrzyn – Węgorzewo (Rastenburg – Angerburg) railway line, which is no longer regularly operated .
