history

The former Birkental was called mining Prussia until March 17, 1886 . Consisting of a large courtyard, the place was part of the municipality of Brosowen (1938 to 1945 Hartenstein (Eastern Pr.), Brzozowo in Polish ) and thus belonged to the administrative district of the same name - renamed in 1939 to "District Perlswalde " - in the district of Angerburg in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1945 Birkental came in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and now bears the Polish name "Parowa". The small town is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and, with its currently 32 inhabitants, is part of the urban and rural community of Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , which was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship before 1998 and has been part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship since then .

Religions

Birkental was parish in the Evangelical Church of Engelstein in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Angerburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Parowa belongs to the Catholic parish of St. Josef in Węgielsztyn (Engelstein) in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland or is part of the Protestant parish in Węgorzewo (Angerburg) , a subsidiary of the parish in Giżycko (Lötzen) in of the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Parowa is located south of a side road that connects Perły (Perlswalde) on the national road DK 63 with Biedaszki (Biedaschken , 1938 to 1945 Wieskoppen) .

A railway connection via Perły as a train station no longer exists since the Königsberg – Angerburg railway line was no longer in operation after the war.
