Zacisz ( German southern town ) is a small settlement in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Zacisz is located in the former Schülz forest of the Steinorter forest in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship - right on the border with the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ). To the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) it is 13 kilometers in a north-easterly direction.

history

The founding date of the former Südort forestry department is March 28, 1874. In the following years a small forester's house settlement was established here , which was a residential area of the Stawisken manor district (1938 to 1945: Teichen, Polish : Stawiska ), from 1928 the rural community of Steinort (Polish: Sztynort). In 1905 there were only three residents in one house.

The small settlement has belonged to Poland since 1945 and bears the Polish name "Zacisz". It is a village in the network of the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

On the evangelical side , Südort was parish up to 1945 in the church Rosengarten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , on the Catholic side in the church of the Good Shepherd in Angerburg in the diocese of Warmia . Today, the Catholic population is of Zacisz the parish in Radzieje in the diocese Elk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland oriented, while the Protestant church members belong to the parish in Węgorzewo, a filial community of the parish in Giżycko (Giżycko) in the Diocese Mazury of Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .
