Różewiec ( German  Rosenstein ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural community Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Różewiec is located northeast of the Rehsauer See ( Jezioro Rydzówka in Polish ) in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is ten kilometers to the south-east to the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The place mentioned before 1785 Resenstein used to be a small estate village. It was founded before 1600.

When the Engelstein District ( Polish: Węgielsztyn ) was established in 1874 , Rosenstein was one of three incorporated municipalities. The county was part of the circle Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910 there were 51 inhabitants in the Rosenstein manor. On September 30, 1928, the village gave up its independence and was incorporated into the rural community Rehsau (Rydzówka in Polish).

In 1945, as a result of the war, Rosenstein was transferred to Poland with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name “Różewiec”. Today the place is incorporated into the district of the Schulzenamt (Polish Sołectwo) Karłowo (Karlswalde) and forms a place in the network of the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

The population of Rosenstein was parish up until 1945 on the one hand in the Evangelical Church of Engelstein in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , on the other hand in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Angerburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today the once Protestant church in Węgielsztyn , now named after St. Joseph , is the Catholic parish church - within the Diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant church members are oriented towards Węgorzewo , to the local branch community of the parish Giżycko (Lötzen) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
