Kietlice ( German  Kittlitz ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Kietlice is located on the west bank of the Wall Lake ( Jezioro Mamry in Polish ) in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is nine kilometers to the northeast to the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The small village, called Groß Mauer until after 1572 and Kicklitz until after 1785, was originally a Vorwerk , as it was only two kilometers southeast of the Stobben ( Polish: Pniewo ) estate , to whose manor district it belonged until 1928. On 17 October 1928, Stobben concluded with the neighboring villages to the new rural community Steinort (Sztynort Polish) together, which until 1945 the district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

From Kittlitz in the 16th century and before the damming of the Mauersee, the coastal town of Kehlen (Kal in Polish) was within walking distance.

In 1945 Kittlitz came to Poland together with southern East Prussia as a result of the war and since then has borne the Polish form of name "Kietlice". Today it is part of the urban and rural community Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Until 1945 Kittlitz was parish in the Protestant Church of Rosengarten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Angerburg in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Kietlice belongs to the Catholic parish in Radzieje in the current diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Protestant parish in Węgorzewo , a branch of the parish in Giżycko (Lötzen) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Kietlice can only be reached by land from Pniewo (Stobben) . The next train station is Kamionek Wielki (until 1928 "Groß Steinort", then called "Steinort" until 1945) on the Kętrzyn – Węgorzewo (Rastenburg – Angerburg) railway, which is no longer regularly operated .
