Maćki ( German  Schönbrunn ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural community Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Maćki is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is two kilometers to the northwest from the center of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The small manor village, called Schweiger dismantling until December 22, 1865, was a residential area within the municipality or city of Angerburg until 1945 . It was in the district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1945, the place was in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland transferred and bears the name of "Macki". Today the place is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish sołectwo ) and a village in the network of the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Before 1945, the majority Protestant population belonged to the parish church of Angerburg in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , while the few Catholic church members were assigned to the Angerburg Church of the Good Shepherd .

Today the inhabitants of Maćki are almost without exception Catholic and part of the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Węgorzewo in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The evangelical inhabitants are parish in the parish Węgorzewo , a branch parish of the parish Giżycko (Lötzen) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Maćki is conveniently located on the Polish state road DK 63 (section of the former German Reichsstraße 131 ), which connects the Polish-Russian state border with the Polish-Belarusian border in northeast Poland . A side street from Pawłowo (Paulswalde) via Jakunowo (Jakunowen , 1929 to 1945 Angertal) and Stulichy (Stullichen) also ends in Maćki.
