Skrzypy ( German  Steinhof ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Skrzypy is located west of the Dobensee ( Polish Jezioro Dobskie ) in the north of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is 18 kilometers to the northeast to the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

In 1563 the small town of Steinhof was founded and until 1945 it formed a suburb of the Gutsdorf Doba , into which it was incorporated. Doben was Amtsdorf in the district of Angerburg in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1945 the place came to Poland with the whole of southern East Prussia and received the Polish name "Skrzypy". Today it is part of the urban and rural community Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Steinhof was before 1945 in the Sprengel Doben (Polish Doba) of the related evangelical churches Rosengarten - Doben eingepfarrt (Radzieje-Doba) leading to the church district Angerburg in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Prussian Union of churches belonged. The parish church of the Catholics was the Church of St. Bruno in Lötzen ( Polish Giżycko ), which belonged to the deanery Masuria II (seat: Johannisburg , Polish Pisz) in what was then the diocese of Warmia .

Today the Catholic population of Skrzypy is the parish in Kamionki , which, with the branch chapel in Doba, belongs to the deanery św. Szczepana Męczennika (Martyr St. Stephen) in Giżycko in the current diocese of Ełk is assigned to the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant church members belong to the parish in Węgorzewo , which is now a subsidiary parish of Giżycko in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Skrzypy is located on the western shore road of the Jezioro Dobskie, which leads from Radzieje (rose garden) via Pilwa ( German  pilwe ) to Doba (Doben) to Kamionki (Kamionken , 1928 to 1945 stone valley ) . The nearest train station is Radzieje on the Węgorzewo – Kętrzyn railway line (Angerburg – Rastenburg) , which is now only in operation for tourist purposes.
