Pinedas is a western Spanish municipality in the south of the province of Salamanca and belongs to the autonomous region of Castile-León . On January 1, 2019, the community had 107 inhabitants. The inhabitants call themselves "Pinedanos".

geography

The municipality is located 2 km from the Río Alagón , near the Sierra de Francia and the clearly visible Pena de Francia mountain . Neighboring municipalities are Colmenar (10 km away), Stotoserrano (12 km away) and Molinillo. The La Covatilla ski area and the old trading town of Béjar are 30 km away . The university city of Salamanca is 90 km away. The natural landscape of this region is one of its greatest attractions, the lush vegetation and the richness of its varied floral world. The locality has abundant water resources.

Culture and sights

  • In 1600 the Iglesia Parroquial church was built in thanks to the local saint Nuestra Señora de las Nieves . It has a bell tower with two old church bells.
  • In the church is the patron saint Ntr. Sra. de las Nieves parroquia de Pinedas and the patron saint of pregnant women, inaugurated on December 5, 2009.
  • One of the village's four drinking fountains rises on the main village square and provides drinking water all year round. Some of the laundry is still being washed in the adjacent basins today.
  • The Calle Larga (Long Street) is the longest street in the municipality and leads away from the village square towards Sotoserano.
  • The town hall has a remarkable clock with the number 12 on the 3. According to the residents, it has no longer been functional since a lightning strike.
  • In the village there is a Casa Rural for overnight stays .
  • In the church, the remarkable retablo has been recreated.

Regular events

Every year on August 4th and 5th there is a festival in thanks to the patron saint Nuestra Señora de las Nieves. A procession leads through the village where traditional folk dances are performed. The festival is independently extended to a week by the residents, with dancing and celebrating to contemporary music in the evening until dawn.

In addition, on June 13, the village celebrates a festival in honor of Saint San Antonio de Padua .

Economy and Infrastructure

The Pinedanos live exclusively from agriculture. Mainly grapes and plums are grown and exported, with the whole village community ( Cooperativa ) and relatives cooperating.

The approximately five kilometer long single-lane access road "Antigua Carretera CV 209" was re-asphalted in 2016 and given new lane markings.

An unofficial, well-paved farm road leads to the towns of Lagunilla and Sotoserrano. The road leads to the Rio Alagon, which later merges with the Rio Frio.
