Location and climate
The place Vecinos lies in the largely flat center of the province of Salamanca at an altitude of approx. 900 m ; the provincial capital Salamanca is just under 30 km (driving distance) to the northeast. The climate in winter is cool due to the altitude, but warm in summer; Rain (approx. 490 mm / year) falls mainly in the winter half-year.

The continuous decline in population ( rural exodus ) since the middle of the 20th century is mainly due to the mechanization of agriculture and the abandonment of small farms and the associated loss of jobs.
economy
The economic life of the community is largely agrarian - in the past, grain, grapevines, etc. were planted for self-sufficiency ; Vegetables came from the house gardens. Cattle breeding (previously mainly sheep and goats, today mostly cattle) was and is still practiced on a small scale. The small traders, craftsmen and service providers of all kinds that were formerly resident in the village have largely disappeared. Today numerous holiday apartments and houses (casas rurales) are rented out.
history
No finds have come down to us from the Celtic - Vettonic , Roman , Visigoth or Moorish times. At the end of the 11th century, the area was recaptured ( reconquista ) and repopulated ( repoblación ) by the kings of León .
Attractions
The 16th century Iglesia de San Juan Bautista is dedicated to John the Baptist . It has an unplastered two-part bell gable (espadaña) in the west and a vestibule (portico) on the north side.
