Garcihernández is a municipality in the province of Salamanca in western Spain . It has 449 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and is located about 30 kilometers southeast of the city of Salamanca .
The community covers an area of approx. 47.59 km² and lies at an average altitude of 814 m above sea level.
The economic focus is almost exclusively on agriculture.
The town gained historical fame through the Battle of Garcia Hernandez , when the heavy cavalry of the King's German Legion surprised a detachment of French infantry that was in retreat.
