Rostec ( Russian Ростех Rostech ), formerly Rostechnologii (Russian: Ростехнологии ) is a Russian state-owned company that was founded in late 2007 to promote the development, production and export of industrial high-tech products for the civil and military sectors. It brings together around 700 companies that make up 14 holding companies: eleven holding companies are active in the arms industry and three in the civil sector. Rostec companies are located in 60 federal subjects of the Russian Federation and deliver goods to over 70 countries worldwide.

The full name of the company is in Russian Государственная корпорация по содействию разработке, производству и экспорству и экспорству и экспорственнай . The Russian abbreviation is Госкорпорация Ростех . In English, the company is fully referred to as the State Corporation for Assistance to Development, Production and Export of Advanced Technology Industrial Product "Rostec" and is abbreviated as Rostec Corporation . Rostec was known as Rostekhnologii until December 2012 .

The history

On November 23, 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law, which Rostekhnologi established as a State Corporation and was passed by the State Duma on November 9. A "state corporation" is a very special type of legal person in Russia. The company was established through an equity contribution from the Russian Federation. The state provided 443 companies that were incorporated into the State Corporation. The total loss of all involved amounted to a sum of 630 billion rubles; more than 30% of these companies were in a crisis or in a pre-crisis state. 17 companies were no longer doing business, 27 had lost part of their assets or faced the material risk of such a loss. Executives of some of these companies, which were now part of Rostec, had conflicts with each other. When Rosoboronprom, a company that eventually merged with Rostechnologii, acquired a majority stake in VSMPO-AVISMA in 2006 , the ongoing conflict between shareholders turned into a crisis. In October 2005, the German Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FFMS) banned common shares from trading on the RTS Exchange and MICEX. More than half of the Russian economy was already under state control in 2009.

Development strategy 2025

In December 2015, the Rostec Corporation's board of directors approved its development strategy until 2025. The main objective of this strategy was to transform the Russian economic model by diversifying the economy and increasing the proportion of high-tech civil and non-oil exports. What happened to it was not known in 2017.

Template: future / in 5 yearsRostec's revenue streams are expected to change significantly by 2025 . The share of arms sales is expected to drop from 20% in 2014 to 13% by 2025, with the share of aircraft components and software falling from 19% to 12% at the same time. However, Rostec does not plan to reduce its production capacities for the range of weapons, aircraft components and software. Rather, the decrease should be due to the proportional growth of other fields, especially electronics. The share of telecommunications equipment in Rostec sales is expected to increase from 4% to 12% by 2025.

"The implementation of Rostec's development strategy will change the structure of the Russian economy," said Rostec boss Sergey Chemezov . “According to our plans, we should reach the level of global competitors like GE and Samsung by 2035 . When Russia has become a developed industrial state and market leader, it will be possible for the country to say goodbye to an economic model based on the export of raw materials. "

Rostec brings together some of the most important companies in Russian industry. In order to create an effective model for managing these assets, a decision was made to completely reorganize Rostec Corporation and all of its holdings. The top priority of the strategy is the growth of income in rubles, also through the introduction of “smart” civilian products on international markets. Such markets develop more than twice as fast as the traditional markets in which Rostec operates.

“Rostec's new strategy, which forecasts annual growth of 17 percent, is committed to a very ambitious task that demands enormous efforts from the company's management. Still, I believe that our predictions are workable as Rostec is a key figure in Russian industry and has the capacity to achieve these goals. One of the main areas for the new strategy of Rostec Corporation is the development of high-tech technologies, ”said Denis Manturov, the Russian Minister for Industry and Trade.

Rostec is one of the ten largest industrial groups in the world. The company has defined the key areas for its development: an annual increase in sales of 17% and a dramatic increase in the proportion of civil products - to 50% by 2025.

The new strategy includes five key elements:

  • Aggressive growth,
  • Aquire new markets,
  • operational efficiency,
  • Partnership with the most important market players,
  • Distribution channels.

Entry into rapidly growing high-tech markets such as electronics, IT, automation, management systems, robotics, novel materials, etc. has priority.

The website was created by SomeOneElse, a UK-based agency that also designs projects for HSBC, Land Rover and the BBC . The company spent $ 1.5 million on the name change.

In 2011 it was decided to organize the tire production at the closed association "Sibur Holding", from which the tire plants in Kirov and Voronezh were bought. The total value of the transferred assets was 222 million euros. The parties are currently modernizing the existing capacities. At the beginning of 2015, 10.5 million tires for passenger cars and light trucks are to be manufactured. The sales volume should amount to 500 million euros.

This should restore the economic efficiency of "AwtoWAS" and maintain the leading positions of Lada, Renault and Nissan in the Russian market. It only took two years to build a new plant, recruit and train employees and assemble the machine tools, and the most modern plant, Ural Boeing Manufacturing, established with the participation of Rostecnologii, started its work in 2009. In October 2012 A memorandum was signed between VSMPO-AVISMA and Boeing, which provides for the expansion of the capacities of Ural Boeing Manufacturing. The joint venture has bought four new machine tools, the assembly of which is planned for 2013. An additional 12 million US dollars are to be invested in the development. Despite the mass layoffs, a social explosion in the city was avoided. An employment program for the laid-off workers was developed.
