Sówka ( German Eulenhof ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (rural community Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Sówka is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).

history

Eulenhof originally only consisted of a small homestead. Until 1945 it was a residential area within the city of Drengfurth ( Polish: Srokowo ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1905 Eulenhof had seven residents in one dwelling.

As a result of the war, Eulenhof came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name “Sówka”. Today is the place "część wsi Wysoka Góra" (= a "part of the village Wysoka Góra") within the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński (district Rastenburg ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship belongs.

Eulenhof was parish up to 1945 in the Protestant parish church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic St. Katharinen Church in Rastenburg in the then diocese of Warmia . Today Sówka belongs to the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Evangelical Church Srokowo , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Sówka can be reached from Voivodship Road 650 from both Srokowo (Drengfurth) and Wilcze (Waldhaus Drengfurth) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
