The Seitzenmühle is part of the municipality of Hilpoltstein in the Central Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .

location

The district is located on a branch of the Gänsbach, a right tributary of the Roth , about two kilometers west of the center of Hilpoltstein.

history

The Einödmühle belonged to the Cistercian monastery Walderbach near Roding in what is now the district of Cham , along with Hofstetten and the Paulusmühle to the south . The mill was owned by the Nuremberg patrician family Haller von Hallerstein under the name “Neumuhl” in 1415 , so it was probably only built around this time. Today's name of the mill goes back to Hermann Seitz, who sat on the mill in 1488. The high and low jurisdiction held the rule (Hilpolt) -Stein, later the Palatinate-Neuburgic care office Hilpoltstein. A description of this office from 1604 still mentions the “Neumuhl”, but also the “Seytzmuhl / Seitzmuhl / Seuzmul”. It belonged to the church of St. Georg in the "Vorstath Hilboldstein", which was demolished in 1804, a branch of the evangelical parish "Häperg" (= Heuberg ) since 1542 .

After the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss had brought the secularization of the Walderbach monastery, the mill became Bavarian in 1806. In the new kingdom she came to the tax district and the community of Heuberg , on February 19, 1822 with three other mills at the second community edict to the municipal community of Hilpoltstein.

The mill property

In the 19th and 20th centuries it belonged to the Catholic parish Hilpoltstein. A sawmill and agriculture were attached to the mill, and in 1873 the miller's family kept two horses and ten cattle.

The mill, driven by an undershot water wheel, was owned by various miller families over the centuries, such as the Weyersmüller, the Swiss, the Wurm, the Ehrenbrand and finally the Lochmüller family, who gave up the milling business in the 1970s, but continued to operate the sawmill and the economy, until the property was leased to a gardening and landscaping company in 1989. Since then, the Seitzenmühle with its main building from 1852 has been a "residential mill".
