history

In the 1920s, the first attempts were made to test a radio transmitter with a range of 455 meters. The first successful attempt was made on March 24, 1929, when Radio Belgrade broadcast its first program from the building of the Serbian Academy. Radio Belgrade broadcast a regular program until the German attack on the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in World War II . During the occupation, the state Yugoslav radio broadcasting was ended and the transmitter was operated by the German Wehrmacht . A program for the German troops was broadcast that made the two-year-old Lale Andersen song Lili Marleen known in Europe. After the liberation by Tito's partisans, Radio Belgrade began broadcasting in Serbian again on November 10, 1944.

On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla , a demonstration of television technology was organized in 1956. The pilot program of Belgrade television began with a television announcement and the direct transmission of the first television news - moderated at the time by Miloje Orlovic.
