Sankt Martin an der Raab is a market town in the Jennersdorf district in Burgenland in Austria .
The Hungarian place name of the municipality is Szent Márton (Rábaszentmárton), the Slovenian name is Sveti Martin.
Competent jurisdiction is the court district Güssing . (Until 2017 there was a judicial district Jennersdorf .)
geography
The municipality is located in southern Burgenland in the Jennersdorf district on the border triangle between Austria, Hungary and Slovenia . Southeast Styria already borders to the west.
The municipality includes the places on the right bank (south) of the Raab , for the entire Burgenland section of this river, upstream opposite Jennersdorf and west of St. Gotthard (Szentgotthárd) . This also includes the south adjoining Riedel of the Neuhauser Hügelland , and small wetlands north of the Raab (old river course; a small unpopulated part to the right of the Raab belongs to Weichselbaum ).

history
Like the rest of Burgenland, the place belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary ( German West Hungary ) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Raba-Szent-Márton be used.
After the end of the First World War, after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ).
Sankt Martin an der Raab has been a market town since 1979 (by VO 47).
In 2016, a mass grave from World War II was excavated at Welten .
