Thermal is a census-designated place in Riverside County in the US state of California , United States . The place has 2865 inhabitants (as of 2010) and is located in the east of the Coachella Valley .

Thermal is located in central Riverside County in California in the United States . The village borders on Coachella in the north and is otherwise surrounded by a community-free area.

About 40 kilometers northwest of Thermal is Palm Springs , about 15 kilometers south of the Salton Sea .

The place has 2865 inhabitants (status of the 2010 census ). Thermal extends over an area of ​​24,479 km², which consists entirely of land; the population density is thus 117 inhabitants per square kilometer. The center of the village is at an altitude of −42 meters and is thus - like the whole of the east of the Coachella Valley - below sea ​​level .

Manuel Perez . Thermal also belongs to California's 36th  Congressional District , which has a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R + 1 and is represented by Democrat Raul Ruiz .
