background

Traumfrauen was created on various motifs in Berlin .

Traumfrauen is the directorial debut of Anika Decker, who was previously responsible for the three successful cinema productions Keinohrhasen (2007), Zweiohrküken (2009) and Rubbeldiekatz (2011) as a screenwriter . According to Decker, she was inspired by the lack of “female heroes” in the cinema to write a screenplay whose four protagonists are all women: “I think we have so many great actresses in Germany and I thought they had to have leading roles write". For the cast she was finally able to win Hannah Herzsprung and Karoline Herfurth in the lead roles of the two "highly neurotic" sisters Leni and Hannah, while Iris Berben was cast in the role of her mother Margaux and Palina Rojinski took over the part of friend Vivienne, who Decker was female Interpretation of a "typical romantic comedy male role".

In addition to her dual roles as a writer and director, Decker also appeared as a co-producer. Together with her brother Jan Decker, she had founded Decker Bros. Film Production beforehand. The main producers were Lothar Hellinger and Christopher Doll from Hellinger / Doll Filmproduktion. In addition, Warner Bros. Pictures Germany was won over as a co-producer. Traumfrauen received financial distribution and production funding from the German Film Funding Fund (DFFF) and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB). Reviews

“So four women strengthen their backs and mix up the men and, in a tennis match, the rival and mortal enemy of Margaux. That is the now common pattern for comedies on girls' evening in the cinema, here with a good cast, from whom Rojinski recommends himself as Cameron Diaz from Germany, ”wrote Hans Gerhold of the Westfälische Nachrichten . All of this is "staged a bit bumpy, with no sense of real timing, often trying to be funny and silly, but certainly ensures a good mood in the target audience through the barrage of slippery jokes."

The cast around Hannah Herzsprung earned positive reviews for their game.

"Sure, dream women don't want to be too significant, and that's quite funny," said Jan Schulz-Ojala from Tagesspiegel . Above all, Karoline Herfurth and Palina Rojinski would give the “public monkeys sugar”, while Berben and M'Barek played more “comparatively naturally” and kept the heart “between everyone”. Decker's film has “form and freshness. Also unlike the million-seller of the ego-maniac Til Schweiger breathes "dream girls", not only because of several equally relevant Schicksälchen is mentioned, almost deeply relaxed team spirit [...] And in fact, quite unblödes entertainment cinema viewers is Traumfrauen all " .

World editor Elmar Krekeler described the production as a “sad film” and wrote in his review that normality hasno placein dream women : “Only when you have to play against something, that was probably the idea, does comedy develop. That's why all the characters drag something individually horrible around with them until they are no longer characters, but bang effects. Most of them pop pretty quickly. Then the air is out ”. The film shows a "thoroughly fun-free, interruptive relationship initiation that [...] is so boring".

Björn Becher from Filmstarts found that the film looked like a string of sorted out skits “that didn't even make it into the show due to a lack of class. This feeling creeps over and over again, especially in the first half. Only then is the loose sequence of humorous scenes trimmed to rough punchlines gradually transformed into a recognizable dramaturgical concept and the narrative principle of sketch revue abandoned in favor of character and plot development - but by then it is already too late, because despite successful moments it is difficult to notice now To empathize with the protagonists who were previously abused for cheap laughs ”.

The magazine Cinema said that dream women rely on the typical ingredients of a German romantic comedy, but spare the audience the shoddy gags of the Schweiger and Schweighöfer films. Decker's film impresses with its perfect timing and pointed dialogues and the uninhibited joy of playing of the leading actresses. The film-dienst described the film as a predictable relationship comedy that flirted with the wickedness of its premise, but rather unabashedly pays homage to the ideal of great love. The pejorative drawing of the female figures could not be absorbed by the well-disposed leading actresses.
