VIVA Austria (current station identification: VIVA AT ) was a station from Viacom and the Austrian branch of the station VIVA Germany . VIVA Austria went on air in 2001 and was discontinued on New Year's Eve 2018.
history
Initially, the station could only be received as a program block within the German VIVA. The advertising window broadcast daily between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., in 2003 this block was discontinued. From 2006 VIVA Austria shared a slot with Nickelodeon Austria , on which it initially broadcast between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. From 2009, VIVA Austria broadcast between 8:15 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The program from VIVA Germany was shown, but was delayed by 15 minutes.
Since 2011, VIVA Austria has been broadcasting on the former analog transponder from MTV , as this can only be seen on Pay TV. The station is thus broadcasting 24-hour programs for the first time. In the course of expanding to a 24/7 operation, VIVA Austria is realigning. According to the network, VIVA will in future offer a "showcase into the world of MTV Networks".
From September 8, 2014 to September 30, 2015 VIVA AT only broadcasted 11 hours a day, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Comedy Central broadcast its program. This gave up its previous frequencies with Nickelodeon after a conversion phase for cable network operators that ended on September 30, 2014. From October 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018, a little more than a year after the channel split, Viacom changed the transmission times again so that VIVA can now be seen from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and receives an extra hour. This also extended the music track by five hours. Comedy Central can still be seen the rest of the time from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
In June 2018 Viacom announced that VIVA will be discontinued at the end of 2018. The broadcasting slot is taken over by Comedy Central, so that it then broadcasts 24 hours.

- “ VIVA Austria Top 20 ” showed the 20 most popular hits in Austria in a compressed form. Markus Floth moderated. First broadcast Monday 11:00 a.m. (2 repeats)
- " VIVA Movie Preview " was a weekly cinema show in which current cinema films and new DVD releases were presented. The program was broadcast weekly on Thursdays at 2:40 p.m. and repeated twice.
