Vladimir Tarasenko ( Russian Владимир Андреевич Тарасенко ; English transcription: Vladimir Andreyevich Tarasenko * 13 December 1991 in Yaroslavl , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian ice hockey player , who in June 2012 in the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League under Contract stands. With the team he won the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs . His father Andrei was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Wladimir Tarassenko began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Sibir Novosibirsk , for whose second team he was active in the Pervaya League , the third Russian division, in the 2007/08 season . Subsequently, the attacker made his debut for the professional team of HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the newly established Continental Hockey League in the 2008/09 season . In his rookie year he scored ten points in 38 games. In the following season , the Russian junior international was able to improve significantly and scored 24 points in 42 games, including 13 goals. He was then selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft as the 16th player of the St. Louis Blues .
In January 2012 he was signed by league rivals SKA Saint Petersburg in exchange for Vyacheslav Soloduchin . In June 2012, he agreed with the St. Louis Blues on an NHL entry contract with a term of three years.
His breakthrough in St. Louis came in the 2014/15 season when he was his team's top scorer with 73 points from 77 games in the regular season. These achievements were rewarded with a new eight-year contract, which Tarassenko brought in a total of 60 million US dollars, making it the most expensive contract in club history.
With the Blues, Tarassenko won the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs .
International
For Russia , Tarassenko took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2009 and the U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championships in 2010 and 2011 . He was runner-up with the U18 national team in 2009 and world champion with the U20 in 2011. Due to 15 scorer points in seven games, he was also elected to the all-star team of the U18 World Cup. For Russia's senior selection , Tarassenko took part in the 2011 World Cup.
At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he took fifth place with the Sbornaja, while he won the silver medal at the 2015 World Cup with this. Tarassenko contributed 3 goals and 4 assists to this success.
He also represented his home country at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey .
