history

The place and the surrounding area have been flooded several times. For example on July 4, 1670, as the schoolmaster and organist at the time Johann Paul Geispöckh reported in 1768. The Grafenwörther council minutes from the year 1768 noted that in the night of February 24th to 25th there was "a big pouring of water in a hurry", which caused an "earth-biting" (earthquake). In 2002 Grafenwörth was hit again by a devastating flood of the Danube in 2002 . In the south the Danube pushed over the banks and from the north the Kamp flooded the place.

In 2019, the Buddhist stupa planned there was the subject of a landmark decision by the Austrian Constitutional Court .
