William F. Love

William Franklin Love (born March 29, 1850 in Liberty , Amite County , Mississippi , † October 16, 1898 in Gloster , Mississippi) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1898 he represented the fifth constituency of the state of Mississippi in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Love attended public schools in his home country and then studied at the University of Mississippi at Oxford . He then worked in agriculture and became politically active as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1878 and 1882 and again from 1884 to 1888 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Mississippi . Between 1889 and 1896 he was a member of the State Senate . In 1890, Love was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Mississippi Constitution.

In the congressional election of 1896, Love was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fifth district of Mississippi . There he took over from Walter M. Denny on March 4, 1897 . He was unable to end his two-year legislative period, which would have ended on March 3, 1899, because he died on October 16, 1898. The due by-election was won by Frank A. McLain , who ended Love's term and remained in Congress until 1903 .
