Woodville is centrally located in Penobscot County. The Penobscot River flows from the northwest in a southeast direction along the eastern border of the town. Several other smaller rivers flow through the area. The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Woodville was organized as a town on February 28, 1895. Previously, the area was known as Woodville Plantation. This was organized in 1854 to secure the right to vote for the residents. Previously the area was known as Indian Township Number 2 . The town got its name because of its location in the woods of Maine.
