The AIG Japan Open 2005 was a WTA hard court tennis tournament for women in Tokyo . It was part of the 2005 WTA Tour as a Tier III category tournament . The tournament took place from October 1st to 9th, 2005.

In the singles Nicole Vaidišová won against Tatiana Golovin 7: 6 4 and 3: 2. In doubles, the pairing Gisela Dulko / Marija Kirilenko won 7: 5, 4: 6 and 6: 3 against Shinobu Asagoe / María Vento-Kabchi .

Qualification for the AIG Japan Open 2005 took place from October 1st to 3rd, 2005. Four qualifying places for the singles and one qualification place for the doubles were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
