In the singles Lindsay Davenport won against Patty Schnyder 7: 6 5 and 6: 3. In doubles, the pairing Cara Black / Rennae Stubbs won 6: 7, 6 , 7: 6, 4 and 6: 3 against Daniela Hantuchová / Ai Sugiyama .
