Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research

The Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research ( Albert Lasker Prize for basic medical research ) is awarded by the American Lasker Foundation (Lasker Foundation). The aim of the award is to honor and promote basic medical research .

The price is valid along with the Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award ( Lasker-DeBakey Award for Clinical Medical Research ) as the highest medical and scientific award in the US and unofficial "American Nobel Prize in Medicine". 68 of the 161 award winners (as of 2019) later also received a Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine , nine a Nobel Prize for Chemistry , and one ( Ernst Ruska ) a Nobel Prize for Physics .

In addition to the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research, there is also the Lasker ~ Koshland Special Achievement Award in Medical Science (formerly the Albert Lasker Achievement Award).
