History and culture
The name Kiskun ( German Kleinkumanien ) goes back to the Turkic people of the Cumans , who settled here around 1240 after the Mongol storms. The southern part of the county is part of the Batschka landscape , most of which lies in Vojvodina .
The county was only formed in the course of the major county reform in 1950 from the Hungarian part of the Batschka (former Bács-Bodrog county ) and the southern part of the large Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun county .
