Birgit Zamulo , née Birgit Eckermann , (born November 11, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film and theater actress . She also appeared under the names Birgit Zambala or Birgit Zambulo and under Birgit Fröhlich .

Life

Birgit Zamulo was born in 1950 in Vienna as Birgit Eckermann. At a young age she was the wife of pop star Bernd Zamulo (* 1946) aka "Lord Bernd", bassist and singer in the band The Lords , and became known under the name Birgit Zamulo. In total, she was married eight times, including twice with the voice actor Peter Ehret , with whom she also woe to the one who lies! played by Franz Grillparzer as Leon and Edrita, and in Tom Sawyer as Tom and Ben. One of her two daughters came from her relationship with Ron Williams , the musician and singer Ariane Roth (* 1974), married to Edgar Itt since December 2013 . All eight marriages were divorced. There is evidence that Birgit Zamulo wanted to publish her bed stories with musicians and other celebrities in a 150-page book in the mid-1970s.

From 2001 to 2012 she was HA Schults partner under the artist name Birgit Fröhlich , with whom he realized numerous of his art actions. She lived in Cologne until 2011, and has since returned to Munich .

Zamulo campaigns against the death penalty and is a supporter of the European Association for Human Rights . In 2013 she contacted Gerald Edward Marshall (* 1982), who was convicted of murder in Texas on August 12, 2004 - wrongly according to his own account - and has maintained intensive personal correspondence with him ever since .

The theater play is the main focus of her work as an actress. In over 30 years as a permanent member of the ensemble of well-known German and Austrian theaters, she played numerous classical and modern roles there.

Her acting teachers were Jutta Wachsmann and Elfriede Kuzmany . Zamulo made her stage debut in 1974 in Christoph Roethel's play Die Reise nach Chine ... or on the difficulty of expressing oneself at Uta Emmer's Modern Theater in Munich's Hans-Sachs-Straße, partners at the time were Michael Kroecher and Hartmut Nolte . Zamulo played her role naked with a shaved head, which caused a sensation. Further roles followed at Munich theaters, for example at the Munich Off-Off Theater , the Theater am Einlaß , the Munich Theater for Children and the Theater Die Kleine Freiheit . At the Theater am Karlstor she played in Peter Goldbaum's play Alfie at the side of Harald Juhnke in 1975 , as well as a partner of Heide Keller and Hans von Borsody in A Stranger Knocks . After that, she first went to the provinces in order to develop her acting skills in classical pieces.

She had her first engagement as a member of the ensemble in 1980 at the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen under the director Achim Thorwald. As a theater actress, she later appeared on the stages of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , the Stadttheater Pforzheim , the Landestheater Coburg , the Landestheater Linz (1991–1997), the Theater Osnabrück (1997–), the Lower Saxony theater, among others, and mostly in different roles Staatstheater Hannover , the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart and the Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss . At the Landestheater Neuss in 2008 she played the leading role of Paula in Café Umberto by Moritz Rinke and spoke the monologue Cinderella's Shoes by Mike Kenny (director: Greet Vissers ). There she also played the maid in Rose Bernd (2008) and the widow Shin in Der gute Mensch von Sezuan (2007/2008 season). In 2010/2011 she took on the role of Mrs. Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady at the Theater Hagen . In 2012 she appeared in the lead role in the play Lift Stopp by Elfriede Hammerl at the Brucknerhaus Linz . The director was Heidelinde Leutgöb . Zamulo has performed at the Theater an der Rott since 2013 .

Zamulo is considered a protagonist in great classic as well as modern roles. In classical roles, she also played the title roles of Maria Stuart and Antigone (both at the Pforzheim City Theater under the direction of Eberhard Feik ), Gretchen , Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (City Theater Pforzheim), Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Landestheater Coburg) , Gertrud in Hamlet (Städtische Bühnen Osnabrück), Mary in one long day's journey into the night (Landestheater Coburg; director: Eberhard Feik; according to her own statement one of her favorite roles), Blanche DuBois in Endstation Sehnsucht (Landestheater Coburg) and 2013 Helene Alving in Ibsen's Ghosts (Theater an der Rott; Director: Johan Heß ). Also in 2013 she could be seen in Bad Leonfelden in the musical Anatevka , directed by Heidelinde Leutgöb. Under her direction again in 2014 in Oliver! , also in Bad Leonfelden and Bad Hall . At the Theater an der Rott in 2014 she also played the role of the artist Jean (Horton) in Manuel Schmitt's Quartetto , an adaptation of Dustin Hoffman's feature film Quartet , which in turn is based on a play by Ronald Harwood .

Movie

Zamulo began her film acting career primarily in comedies and erotic films of the 1970s. In addition, there were some roles in television productions and roles in productions at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF).
