Linden is a district in the southwest of Bochum . The former independent parish "Linden" was first incorporated into the new parish Linden-Dahlhausen in 1921, and in 1929 together with it to Bochum.

history

Linden is located in the south of the city along an old trade route or today's federal highway 51 , which crosses the Ruhr to Hattingen further south . The Horkenstein is one of the oldest relics .

Like its neighboring district of Dahlhausen , Linden was originally characterized by agriculture. Both localities then advanced to become the first larger coal mining area of ​​today's city of Bochum. Between 1819 and 1870 the population increased from 400 to 2,600. The SG Linden-Dahlhausen was created in 1998 from the VfB Linden and the SG Bochum-Süd .
