Cognizant Technology Solutions is an American IT service provider headquartered in Teaneck , New Jersey . The most important location, however, is Chennai in India, where the majority of the approximately 290,000 employees work. In addition to other Indian production sites, the group also has a “Global Delivery Center” in Shanghai . Cognizant provides IT consulting and technology as well as outsourcing services through a global delivery model. Cognizant is listed on the NASDAQ and is one of the 100 companies with the highest market capitalization, the NASDAQ-100 .

history

Cognizant was founded in 1994 as a development division of Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) under the name Dun & Bradstreet Satyam Software . The company was originally a joint venture between Dun & Bradstreet (76%) and Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (24%), but soon became a 100 percent subsidiary of D&B.

As part of a restructuring of D&B, the group was split into three listed subgroups in 1996. The market research company IMS , Nielsen Media Research , the IT consultancy Gartner Group and the market researchers from Dataquest as well as Pilot Software and Erisco under the umbrella of Cognizant Corp. summarized.

In 1998, Cognizant was split again and Cognizant Technology Solutions was created as a division of IMS Health . In the same year, Cognizant Technology Solutions went public (NASDAQ: CTSH).

In November 2002, IMS sold its majority stake in Cognizant Technology Solutions.

On March 5, 2008, Cognizant Technology Solutions and T-Systems announced the establishment of a joint global service alliance for system integration.
