The Maros-Torda County [ ˈmɒroʃ ˈtordɒ ] (Hungarian Maros-Torda vármegye , Romanian Comitatul Mureș-Turda ) was a historical administrative unit (county / county) in the Kingdom of Hungary .

The county is particularly mountainous in the north and east ( Gurghiu and Giurgeu mountains with the Saca Mare (Hungarian Mezőhavas ) and Prisica) and is crossed by the river Mieresch (now Romanian Mureș ) and its tributaries.

It bordered on the counties of Bistritz-Naszod (Beszterce-Naszód) , Csík , Udvarhely , Klein-Kokelburg (Kis-Küküllő) , Torda-Aranyos and Klausenburg (Kolozs) .

history

The Maros-Torda county was created in 1876 through the merger of the Marosszék Szekler chair with parts of the Torda county .

After the end of the First World War in 1918, the area came under the Treaty of Trianon to Romania and is now in Mureș County .
