Dame-Marie is a French commune of 144 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Orne in the region Normandy (2015 Basse-Normandie ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Mortagne-au-Perche and to the Collines du Perche Normand , a community of municipalities founded in 2016 . The residents call themselves dominoes .
geography
The municipality is located in the Perche countryside and the Perche Regional Nature Park , 45 kilometers east-southeast of the departmental capital Alençon and about 53 kilometers northeast of Le Mans . The small rivers in the 13.27 km² municipal area ( Ruisseau de Grand-Fontaine, Ruisseau de la Bulardière, Ruisseau de Couette, Ruisseau de la Guignère ) drain south to the Même in the Loire catchment area . The area is characterized by meadows, small forests and the typical hedges ( bocages ) that delimit the pastures. Numerous individual farms and hamlets belong to the community. The largest are Couasme, Croix Tarenne, Grand-Fontaine, La Renardière, La Liardière, Le Bouhoux, Le Vivier, Clos Rohard and La Pommeraie . Dame-Marie is bounded by the neighboring communities of Perche en Nocé in the north, northeast and east, Saint-Cyr-la-Rosière in the southeast and south, La Chapelle-Souëf and Appenai-sous-Bellême in the southwest and Bellême in the west and northwest.

The place name was first mentioned in 1247 in the parish church of Dogne Marie.
