Dmitri Wladimirowitsch Kulikow ( Russian Дмитрий Владимирович Куликов ; English transcription: Dmitri Vladimirovich Kulikov ; born October 29, 1990 in Lipetsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League since July 2017 .
Career
Dmitri Kulikow began his career as a hockey player at Rus Moscow , before moving to the junior division of the Russian first division club Lokomotive Yaroslavl in 2007 , where he was active until 2008. He then moved to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , with whom he won the Coupe du Président , the league's championship title. The defender contributed to this success with 81 points scorer in a total of 76 games. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the first round as a total of 14th player from the Florida Panthers , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League on October 2, 2009 in the game against the Chicago Blackhawks .
Due to the NHL lockout, Kulikow plays for Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Continental Hockey League between September and December 2012 .
After seven seasons in Florida, in which he and the team made it to the playoffs twice , Kulikow was handed over to the Buffalo Sabers in June 2016 in exchange for Mark Pysyk . After another season in Buffalo, his expiring contract was not extended, so he joined the Winnipeg Jets as a free agent in July 2017 . Kulikov signed a three-year contract there, which should bring him an average annual salary of 4.33 million US dollars.
International
For Russia , Kulikow took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in 2007 and 2008 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2009 . In the senior category, he won the silver medal at the World Championships in 2010 and 2015. He also represented his home country at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey .
