Geographical location
Drew is located to the east of Penobscot County and is bordered by Aroostook County to the north and Washington County to the east . The Mattawamkeag River flows south through the area. It flows into the Penobscot River at Mattawamkeag . To the south is the only lake in the Drew area, the Mud Pond . The surface is rather flat, the Potter Hill with 191 m height is the highest point.

history
The original name for the area was: Township No. 7, Fourth Range North of Bingham's Penobscot Purchase (T7 R4 NBPP) . On September 8, 1856, Drew was organized as a plantation. This organization was confirmed on January 25, 1868. It was organized as a town on April 5, 1921, but Drew was reorganized as a plantation in 1937 after the difficulties of the Great Depression .
Settlement began on the Drew area in 1825.
