The EBSA European Snooker Championship 2006 was a snooker tournament that took place from June 6th to 15th, 2006 in the Romanian port city of Constanța . It was the 15th edition of the continental championship organized by the European Billiards and Snooker Association .
The European champion was the Maltese Alex Borg , who defeated the Englishman Jeff Cundy 7: 5 in the final. Lasse Münstermann was the first German to reach the EM semifinals and was eliminated by Cundy. He shared third place with the Norwegian Kurt Maflin .
mode
The 54 participants were divided into eight groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The four best placed in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
