It belongs to the arrondissement of Boulogne-sur-Mer and the canton of Boulogne-sur-Mer-2 (until 2015: canton of Boulogne-sur-Mer-Sud ).

Echinghen is about three kilometers southeast of Boulogne-sur-Mer . The municipality is part of the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park .

Echinghen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-Boulogne in the north, Baincthun in the east and northeast, Bellebrune in the east, Isques in the south and Saint-Léonard in the west and southwest.

The A16 autoroute runs along the western edge of the municipality .
