Wierre-Effroy (nl .: Heimfried Wilder) is a French municipality with 857 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the district of Boulogne-sur-Mer in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . Wierre-Effroy belongs to the canton of Desvres (until 2015: canton of Marquise ).
geography
Wierre-Effroy is about 22 kilometers southwest of Calais and about 13 kilometers northeast of Boulogne-sur-Mer . In the north, the Slack borders the community. It is part of the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park .
Wierre-Effroy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rinxent in the north, Réty in the east and north-east, Belle-et-Houllefort in the south and south-east, Conteville-lès-Boulogne in the south, Pernes-lès-Boulogne and Pittefaux in the south-west, Maininghen-Henne in the West and southwest, Offrethun in the west and Marquise in the northwest.
The population has been more or less constant at around 700 since the 18th century.
