Audembert ( Flemish : Hondsberg ) is a French municipality with 432 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the district of Boulogne-sur-Mer in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . Audembert belongs to the canton of Desvres (until 2015: canton of Marquise ).
geography
Audembert is located about 22 kilometers southwest of Calais and about 17 kilometers north-northeast of Boulogne-sur-Mer near the opal coast of the English Channel ( North Sea ). The municipality is part of the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park .
Audembert is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Wissant in the north, Hervelinghen in the northeast, Leubringhen in the east, Leulinghen-Bernes in the south and southeast, Bazinghen in the southwest and Tardinghen in the west.
The Audembert airfield is located here .
During the Second World War, the German Wehrmacht operated a radio station in Audembert for the so-called X procedure .
