In the 1999/00 season, the DEB organized league, which in the previous season was still called the 2nd South League , was again carried out under its old name Regionalliga Süd .

The regional leagues in the north were again organized independently by the regional associations there and played a joint final round to determine the candidates for the Oberliga Nord.

After the preliminary round , which was played as a double round, the participants in places 1 to 6 took part in the qualification round against the participants in places 9 to 14 of the Oberliga Süd 1999/2000 , where the teams from ESV Kaufbeuren , EV Füssen and EC Peiting could qualify for the Oberliga 2000/01 . The participants in positions 7 to 12 took part in the qualifying round.

After the qualifying round is over, the

• last placed team - the EC Pfaffenhofen - in the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association - here the Bavarian League - sporty relegated,
• while the penultimate team - ESC Dorfen - against the second-placed team in the promotion round to Regionalliga Süd - ERV Schweinfurt - managed to stay up through the qualification play-off against the second in the promotion round to Regionalliga Süd .

In the promotion round to Regionalliga Süd , the Augsburg EV prevailed thanks to the better direct comparison and qualified for the Regionalliga Süd 2000/01 . The second - ERV Schweinfurt - was able to make it through the qualification playoffs. In addition to the two representatives of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association from the Bavarian League took part in the round

• the Baden-Württemberg representative - Stuttgarter EC instead of the renouncing champion of the Baden-Württemberg League Schwenninger ERC Amateurs - and
• the master of the Sachsenliga - USG Chemnitz RSC - part.

After the qualification playoff, the winner - ERV Schweinfurt - and the loser of the playoffs - ESC Dorfen - were able to qualify again for the Regionalliga Süd, as EV Landsberg eV broke up and the new club EV Landsberg 2000 in the lowest league of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association - of the Bavarian District League - had to restart the game.

• The participants in places 1 to 4 have qualified for the Regionalliga Süd 2000/01 .
• The participant in 5th place takes part in the qualification playoffs.
• The last placed - EC Pfaffenhofen - was relegated to the leagues of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association - here the Bayernliga .

• ESC Dorfen - ERV Schweinfurt 1: 2 (5: 4 n.V., 2: 7, 2: 6)

• The ERV Schweinfurt thus qualified for the Regionalliga Süd 2000/01 .
• The ESC Dorfen remained despite the sporting descent due to the dissolution of the EV Landsberg in the Regionalliga Süd.

Promotion round for the 2000/01 season

The champions and runners-up of the Bayernliga , a participant of the Baden-Württembergliga - the Stuttgart EC for the non-eligible team of the amateurs of the Schwenningen ERC - and the winner of the championship round of the Sachsenliga could take part in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Süd .

The Augsburg EV won the round due to the better direct comparison and qualified directly for the Regionalliga Süd 2000/01 . ERV Schweinfurt took part in the qualification playoffs against ESC Dorfen as runner-up .

Regional North

• The Regionalliga Nordrhein-Westfalen played a preliminary round with 11 teams as a single round, after which the best three teams qualified for the joint final round.
• The Regionalliga Hessen / Rhineland-Palatinate played a single round in two preliminary round groups, West and East, each with 6 teams, after which the champions from the West group qualified for the joint final and the third-placed from the East group was ready to take part in the joint final .
• The Regionalliga Nord-Ost plays a preliminary round with 9 teams as a single round, the best three teams are eligible to play in the joint final round.
• The final round is played as a single round, the two best teams qualify for the Oberliga Nord 2000/01 .

The regional league jointly organized by the associations from Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate was played in a group west and in a group east. In Group West, the team from HC Tornado Luxembourg took part as a visiting team.

• The team in third place - EHC Frankfurt - was ready to take part.
