description

From the remains of his arms and Maschinenfabrik Società Officine Meccaniche e Fonderie Michele Ansaldi & C. was founded in 1905 by Michele Ansaldi the Micheli Ansaldi & C. Founded in Turin. There he manufactured 203 vehicles of the type "Fiat-Ansaldi 10/12 HP", first with chain and later with cardan drive . The engines had a cubic capacity of 3,053 cc and 12 hp . The vehicle designation "Fiat-Ansaldi" indicated that Fiat had a 47% stake in Ansaldi's company from the start . As early as 1906, Fiat took over the factory completely, gave it the name Fiat Brevetti and until 1908 produced another 233 vehicles of the "10/12 HP", which from then on bore the designation "Brevetti Fiat 10/12 HP". Michele Ansaldi himself founded a new automobile company, the Società Ligure Piemontese Automobili, together with Matteo Ceirano in 1906 .

In 1909 Brevetti Fiat was completely absorbed by Fiat . The "10/12 HP" has since been technically further developed and appeared in 1909 at Fiat for the first time with an increased engine output of 22 hp as the "Brevetti Fiat 15/20 HP", better known as "Brevetti Tipo 2" ( German : Brevetti Type 2 ) . The "Tipo 2" was the first Fiat automobile to have the radiator emblem with the abbreviation "FIAT". As early as 1910, the "Tipo 2" appeared as the "Brevetti 15/25" after further revision and an increase in output to 25 hp. A total of 684 "Tipo 2" cars were produced by Fiat up to 1912, 408 of which were in the 22 hp version. The "15/20 HP" (Type 52), which was also published by Fiat in 1910, and its successors no longer had a "Brevetti" suffix in their name, but appeared as "Fiat Tipo 2" etc. The former "Ansaldi-Werk" in the Via Cuneo later went to Fiat Grandi-Motori .
